Where is the collection room?
The QML collection room is inside Help Medical, which is on the right-hand side as you walk into the store at Priceline Pharmacy Pacific Fair, Shop 81 on the ground floor of Pacific Fair. The first 4 hours of parking at Pacific Fair are free each day. See directions and parking.
QML lists this centre as Broadbeach (K150). If you book online, choose that one: QML has another collection centre elsewhere in Pacific Fair, at a different medical centre.
When is it open?
Monday to Friday, 8:00am – 1:00pm. Closed weekends. Hours can change, especially around public holidays, so check QML’s page for this centre before you come in.
Do I need to book?
Not for standard blood tests. Walk in with your request form. Some tests need a booking:
- Glucose tolerance tests must be booked with QML. They take about 2 hours. You’ll need to fast (water only) for at least 8 hours beforehand, ideally no more than 12, and avoid smoking and exercise before and during the test.
- Some specialised tests are only done by appointment. Your request form or doctor will usually tell you, or call QML on (07) 2146 3500.
You can book online with QML to choose a time.
What should I bring?
- Your pathology request form from your doctor. Paper forms and electronic requests on your phone are both accepted.
- Your Medicare card (or your private health or overseas student health cover card) and photo ID.
- Your concession card, if you have one.
- A list of the medicines you take, with doses.
Do I need to fast?
Only if your doctor has told you to. If you do need to fast, it usually means 8 to 12 hours with nothing to eat and only plain water to drink. Keep taking your usual medicines unless your doctor says otherwise. If you have diabetes, don’t fast without checking with your doctor first. Children under 12 shouldn’t fast for more than 4 to 6 hours.
How much does it cost?
QML sets its own fees; it isn’t part of the pharmacy. Concession card holders are bulk billed for tests covered by Medicare. QML says it bulk bills Medicare-covered tests for other patients too, though a fee may apply in some cases. Tests that Medicare doesn’t cover are paid for at the time of collection. If you’re not sure, call QML before you come in.
How do I get my results?
Your results go to the doctor who requested the test, so book a follow-up with them. If your tests were requested by a GP at Help Medical, you can book your follow-up there.
Bringing a child?
QML lists this centre for children aged 6 to 12 (walk-in), and children over 12 can be seen at any QML centre. For children under 6, call QML on (07) 2146 3500 to find a paediatric centre.
Need a request form?
For most tests, you need a request from a doctor. The GPs at Help Medical, inside our store, can see you and arrange tests if you need them. While you’re here, our pharmacists can fill any prescriptions a few steps away.
